Oldest Motorcycle
(para-phrased from Yankee Magazine)
No it's not your father's Harley. What it is though, is an 1885 Daimler, (well a replica anyway). But it is joined by every model of Indian Motorcycles built from 1901 to 1953. While the Indian name now goes on a Harley-clone, these Indians were the FIRST all-American made motorcycle. And, every one in the collection works perfectly. See them at the Indian MotocycleMuseum and Hall of Fame at 33 Hendee St. in Springfield. Open March to November. 413.737.2624

Say that three times fast, actually by it's better known name of Lake Webster you possibly could. The Lake is actually a fine place to swim, and there are many activities such as water-skiing, fishing etc. but it's claim to fame is the Lake on the Connecticut border with the longest (49 charactors) name in the world, and the fifth longest word. The Parks Dept. can be reached at 508.949.3862

Oldest Collection of Antique Cars
(para-phrased from Yankee Magazine)
In Brookline (a Boston neighborhood), on the Larz Anderson estate is the Museum of Transportations collection of antique cars. Open to the public at 15 Newton St. there are numerous car shows through out the year. 617.522.6547

364.4 Smoots and one ear
(para-phrased from Yankee Magazine)
That's how long the Harvard Bridge, across the Charles River is. As a fraternity pledge, Oliver Smoot Jr. was chosen to be the 'human ruler' to measure the bridge. Each year the bridge is re-marked so if you're in the area, park by the Charles, on the Cambridge side and stop by and look at the measurements, as well as the view of Boston over the river.
