Recommendations: Upolsterers - 5 star rating for Columbia Upolstery.
Located in Lawrence, Mass. Owner - Sal @ 978-683-2205 Does high
quality auto and bike work (a rider himself) knows what to do to meet your
needs - been a family business forever - messy shop, but don't let the looks
fool you. High quality - no risk seat mod as outlined in the tips
section.......Total cost $35 - including both seats. Busy shop, don't
expect single day turn around.
Addendum to Columbia Upolstery:
Upon Jim's recommendation, we had Sal look at the rear seat of the 'Yankee Intruder'
The stock brick was way too hard for the passenger.
Sal had us do a layout on how we wanted it to be,
and they did a great job using the memory foam inside with a new cover.
Great looks, quality work and best of all,
We rode to Americade from Manchester and back in two days,
leaving the saddle only to tour the tents, eat and sleep.
Kudos to Sal and his crew for turning this around in time for the ride,
and my passenger is all smiles with the comfort.

Recommendations: Mechanical work South of Boston - 4 star rating for
Cycle Tech Motor Sports. (Most dealers get a single star - just better than
leaving it broken.
Also, I should qualify the rating system.....there has
not yet been a five star rating awarded in this category)
Located in
Mansfield, Mass. Owner - Rich @ 508-339-3530 Rich works a million hours a
week. He is almost always there when I drive by at 1 am on my way home
from working on my own stuff. Specializes in BMW's, and they ride for
miles to go here, but is equally capable on any machine. Pricing is very
reasonable and Rich, although very busy, will take time to answer your
questions and maybe even teach you something along the way.
If you've ever
been to the Laconia Hill climb, you will hear his shop name mentioned a lot
as he works on or sponsers many of the hill climbers from that area of
Mass.
Recommendations: Parts and Accessories - 4 star rating for Honda North
Reading Kawasaki. Located in North Reading, Mass.
Their pricing is always
better than the price gouging that occurs between Greater Boston Motorsport,
Cycles 128, and Parkway Cycle. Although I've never bought new, I hear
they are very competitive in new sales at HNRK as well. I have always
received excellent treatment from Domenic and Sam. Dom is the parts
manager, and I've been doing business there for about 10 years. Use these
guys for immediate OEM needs, and quick aftermarket needs for all brands.
They sell Parts Unlimited, Tucker Rocky, Drag Specialties, Nempco, and will
buy for you as a dealer from anyone else you want provided the
manufacturer doesn't require a large volume order - like Hooker Headers (now carried
in Drag) Aftermarket parts are usually available within two days of the
order being placed if the part is warehoused in New York. More distance
means more wait for the item.
If you can wait two weeks or more for your parts,
call around to the discount mail order companies - found in the back of
"Cycle World" for instance. If you use this approach, try to combine other
peoples orders with yours, or wait until you have many needs. Shipping
and handling are usually fixed or front end loaded. If you increase the
size of the order, the percentage spent on shipping and handling as a
portion of the total cost becomes reduced.

J.J. Goodwins Rest. and pizza with Gizzy's Pub is a decent place to go for a
bit ,round of darts or a game of pool. Located on route 28 North in Barnstead
NH. Just minutes from Alton Bay Lake Winnepesauki and Twenty Minutes
from Wiers Beach
The Yankee Cruisah Gourmet has rated the following:
- Wallys Pub - Hampton Beach, NH
a definate bikers hangout, pool, darts, good food, and a well stocked bar.
We have a thing for the garlic and hamburg pizza.
It has become a traditional stop on our seacoast tours.
- In and around Manchester, NH the Aloha is one of the best Chinese Cruisine's.
Very clean, and good helpings always provide a good evening.
- We found another Chinese Resturant that deserves all the high praises it's been getting.
This one is the Peking Buffet in the Wal-Mart Plaza in Hooksett NH.
They have so many items on the warming servers,
that you can make many trips back and still find something new and delicious.
If you're a fan of the spicier foods, try the General Tso Chicken or the Szechuan Pork. HOT ! !
Their Green Beans with garlic sauce even made me 'eat my greens'.
We've always liked Beef Teriyaki, but their Chicken Teriyaki converted us to this better choice.
- On the other hand, don't bother with the China Buffet - Bedford, NH.
We experienced soggy Crab Rangoon, tasteless rice, and where was the teriyaki in the Teriyaki Beef?
- When in Portland, ME, and you're hungry, very hungry, go to the Country Buffett in the mall in South Portland.
Very reasonable price for ALL YOU CAN EAT. We've been there on their Beef Rib night (I think it was Thurs.) and they just kept on cookin' and we kept on eatin'.
There is a large Salad Bar for those who want to waste all that great food, with all types of home type cooking of beef, chicken, soups, corn, veggies (you know, the green food you eat to keep her happy) hot and cold drinks (soft only), and deserts (hint, use the soup bowls for the ice cream).
