W1CGS info and trivia

The call of W1CGS was originally issued to the Coast Guard Station at Avery Point in Groton, Connecticut. This was brought to my attention by an email from W7BXH. Chuck was stationed at the training station but was not involved with the amateur station then.
If anyone else has any history of the station I would appreciate an email or letter to my address on the personal page, so I can gather some info for a page of the call's history, and the stations history.
The current web site of the Coast Guard has no mention of the station, and the call books I have seen, have no reference to the call or station, so I am guessing that it hasn't been used for quite a while.

My original call was WB1DRW which was issued to me in the mid seventies. I was very accustomed to the original call, but when the vanity program allowed me to get my initials (something I had wanted since first licensed) I went for them spring of '98. I would like to find anything about the Coast Guard Station station, or QSL cards or when they first went on the air and when they stopped. As an interesting point, I grew up in CT, near Norwich, which is close to the CG Station, and went to a number of activities there.

* New Info * Charles Lindenberg W7BXH, just sent me a photo of an original W1CGS QSL card (circa, unknown date). I've scanned it (first attempt at that), cropped it, unfortunatly I had to go to B&W, maybe I can fix that after I get better at scanning, and here it is.

This is my w1cgs enigma logo. I've always been fascinated by this design.
Cover the top half of the enigmatic W and you see a 3 dimensional U,
Cover the bottom half, and the 3 poles, or rods of the W appear.
Neat Huh?
(why ... yes ... I did read MAD magazine as a kid, Why do you ask?)
